The Setting
Earth remains under the iron grip of the Combine. The Resistance fights a war it can barely sustain, and the front lines have blurred into every street, alley, and irradiated wasteland.
You're a rebel turned mercenary who takes high-risk contracts in quarantined City sectors and Xen-infested wastelands to survive. Hunt Combine patrols, clear alien infestations, and extract with salvaged tech and cash.
The cause still lingers in your mind. But in a world ruled by the Combine, survival pays.
Core Mechanics
Browse the contract board and pick your objective: escort salvage runs, neutralise Combine squads, or eliminate Xen infestations. Every contract pays out in cash.
Deploy into dangerous zones alongside other players. Complete your objectives, loot what you can find, then extract before time runs out. Don't let the Combine find you first.
Spend your cash at the Armoury, Vortigaunt or Medic back at base. Upgrade your weapons and armour. Better gear opens up higher-tier contracts with higher-tier risk to match.
Team up with friends or other players online, go it alone, or even compete for contracts. The world of Half-Life 2: Versus is shared, but how you play it is up to you.
Face Overwatch soldiers enforcing Combine law and Xen wildlife that has spread far beyond the portals. Each enemy type demands a different tactic.
Rotate between urban city sectors, irradiated wastelands, and your base of operations. Each zone has unique threats, loot tables, and extraction points.
Get Started
All you need is Garry's Mod on Steam. The server handles the rest.
Pick up Garry's Mod on Steam. It's the only requirement. Everything else downloads automatically when you connect.
Open the server browser in Garry's Mod, search for Half-Life 2: Versus, and connect to the server.
Connect to the contracts server, pick a contract, and deploy into the field.
